Edirom Online Reloaded at DHd2026 in Vienna
2026-02-25
At the DHd 2026 conference in Vienna (February 23–27, 2026), the Edirom Online Reloaded team presented a talk on February 25th titled "Weiterentwicklung von Software nach Projektende: Maßnahmen zur nachhaltigen Softwareentwicklung am Beispiel Edirom Online".
The presentation addressed the crucial question of what measures can be meaningfully implemented to sustain software beyond the end of a project. Using the Edirom edition software for critical editions of music as a case study, various aspects and methods were discussed: building and expanding a community, structuring source code, ensuring code quality, and managing collaboration and responsibility in such a context. Additionally, proposals were presented to funding agencies on how micro-funding could be effectively utilized for software enhancement and standardization.
We are delighted by the consistently positive feedback from the audience and thank the DHd community for the engaging discussions and interest in sustainable software development practices in Digital Humanities.
