Edirom Online Reloaded at 21. Plenartagung der AG für germanistische Edition
2026-02-13
In cooperation with Dennis Friedl from the Korngold Werkausgabe, Edirom Online Reloaded represented by Daniel Jettka presented their joint work on the "Exploration of new forms of publications with component-based digital editions" (in German: "Erschließung neuer Publikationsformen mit komponentenbasierten digitalen Editionen") at the 21. Plenartagung der AG für germanistische Edition in Erlangen. The conference took place from 11th to 14th February 2026 at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
With the change of Edirom Online from a monolithic to a web component-based architecture, it becomes possible to integrate the functionalities of the Edirom into other digital environments and publication contexts. This allows for a more flexible and adaptive use of the software's features, enabling researchers and editors to create customized digital publication forms.
By showing some examples of component usage independent of the Edirom Online environment, the presentation highlighted how the functionalities of the Edirom can be embedded into other digital contexts. For instance, the interactive facsimile view could be integrated into a text on a web page, allowing readers to explore the original manuscript alongside the text. Another example is the display of a pre-configured viewpoint of a manuscript excerpt in an embedded viewer, either open for interaction or restricted to a specific area, which facilitates the focus on a particular point in a scholarly discussion.
The contribution will be submitted as a paper to the conference proceedings in the coming months.
